I traveled to Spring Creek for dry fly fishing. You know, BWO's, March Browns and Sulphurs but, alas, that wasn't be on this trip. Storms brought the water…
I checked a couple of places but the story was always the same...no bugs and few rising fish. The nymph guys seemed to be doing OK but I've been dunking nymphs…
I'm starting to think that the Euro Nymphing guys like to charge up the middle of the stream and hold out a short line mostly because they can't cast elegantly…
The second day of my trip I hit Black Mo. That stream was perfect and the fish wanted to cooperate and chew on my dry offerings.
This is were I got most of the fish. Sure looks different than Spring or Bald Eagle.
Yeah, they are stockers but when the conditions warrant,....a fish is a fish.
Some of them are actually starting to take on some natural colors.
A hand shot just to get a size perspective. They weren't big but they weren't fingerlings either.
Oh, yeah, there were some browns mixed in with the bows. No brookies however.
That last brown was taken on a beetle on a cast to a point 6 inches from the bank where the log meets the shoreline. Like I said, elegance and accuracy. That…
Then it was back to the rainbows. Got nothing against rainbows 'cept they get the net all sloppy.
Then another pretty brown.
Tried for a hand shot but this one was camera shy.
All the fish looked healthy but some had some damage to the mouth. Probably from treble hooks. I'm really starting to despise spinning gear for trout.
Another nice bow.
Yup, still at the same spot. Couldn't leave when the fish were being cooperative.
Then it was back to Spring. Didn't touch a fish all day. Saw two or three rise but no takers. Most guys agreed with me...no bugs. Why is anybody's guess.
This stream is the same and it does hold fish but just the same, I miss fishing with Mike. Mike Barr....RIP.
